Learn More

The American Cancer Society’s Washington Golf Classic is a high-end, amenity-rich tournament that raises funds for the Society’s mission to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer. While progress has been made in cancer research, we still have a lot of work to do. We invite you to support our efforts to finish the fight against cancer by joining for a day of first-class golf and networking with a lunch program and award reception. By bringing together business and community leaders to this event, we are able to support the American Cancer Society’s mission.

Our Mission

Mission Funding: Washington Transportaion and Lodging

Through our Road To Recovery transportation program, the American Cancer Society provides transportation to patients needing assistance to timely care and treatment, with free rides to treatment for cancer patients. Transportation barriers are the number one reason for missed cancer appointments. Driving patients to lifesaving treatment is one of the most meaningful volunteer experiences with the American Cancer Society. Patient transportation grants are funds awarded to health care systems to purchase direct patient transportation services (e.g., gas cards, ride share rides, taxi rides or vouchers, bus passes, etc.) to address transportation barriers to cancer-related appointments.

Last year, Washington Road to Recovery drivers provided 1,113 rides to treatment for 113 cancer patients. ACS also provided $135,000 in transportation grants to 11 partners right here in Washington. Although these are great numbers, unfortunately not every ride request is met. In 2023, 3,244 rides were requested which means 2,131 rides were unmet. This is why our Washington Golf Classic will be raising our paddles in support of our Washington Transportaion program.

Every cancer. Every life.
